Margot Robbie, in an Ab-Baring Crop Top and Skirt, and Ryan Gosling Went Full Barbiecore at CinemaCon
Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling gave a teaser for their upcoming film Barbie and what to expect from their press tour fashion today at CinemaCon. Robbie personified Barbie once more, wearing a pink custom gingham crop top and skirt from Prada. Gosling, meanwhile, wore a Greta Gerwig shirt (to celebrate the film’s director) and bright pink jacket.
During the presentation, Robbie quipped that the Barbie set was quite popular, saying, via The Wrap, “You’ve never seen so many grown men find an excuse to come to the set. It was like a dopamine hit.”
Gosling spoke about his reluctance playing Ken at first, saying after having never met Gerwig, “one day I was bleaching my hair, and spiking my hair, wearing bespoke outfits and roller blading down Venice Beach.”
“I have to be honest, I only knew Ken from afar, I didn’t know him from within,” he added, via Deadline. I didn’t know my Ken-ergy.” He then joked that Gerwig and Robbie brought it out “like pink scarlet fever.”
Robbie spoke last month about how she herself was shocked Barbie got made. “The first time I read the ‘Barbie’ script, my reaction was, ‘Ah! This is so good. What a shame it will never see the light of day,’” Robbie told BAFTA, via IndieWire, “‘because they are never going to let us make this movie.’ But they did.”
Barbie comes out on July 21. The new trailer, shown at CinemaCon today, has not been released publicly yet.
