Christian Gonzalez looks forward to intercepting brother-in-law (Exclusive interview)

Christian Gonzalez, from the Oregon Ducks, is projected to be a top pick as one of the best cornerbacks in the upcoming NFL Draft.

The day before the draft, I got the chance to sit down with Christian to talk about a variety of topics including how he’d feel getting drafted by the Falcons, what makes him standout as the best corner in the draft, and playing against his brother-in-law.

I asked Christian if there was any quarterback in the NFL that’s at the top of his list of guys he’d want to pick off and record an interception against.

“I feel Aaron Rodgers. That’s one of the best. One of my best friends growing up, he loves Aaron Rodgers so just to be able to tell him that I think would be pretty funny.”

I thought he might have said a different name. If you didn’t already know, Christian’s sister, Melissa, is married to NFL quarterback, David Blough, who is currently backing up Kyler Murray in Arizona. I asked Christian what it’d be like to record an interception against him if he gets the chance.

“That would also be real cool. There would be a lot of talking going on at the dinner table.”

Finally, I asked him what makes him the top corner in the upcoming draft.

“My size, speed, and length. Adding that with my versatility. Being able to play nickel this year in the back half of the season and being able to play do that and also play outside corner just move in and out throughout the down not just one game or one drive, but switch automatically in one and go right back to outside. Then just go wherever the number one receiver is at, whatever the team needs me to do is what I like to do.”

Be sure to watch the full interview above where he talks about a player he looked up to growing up, who he’s looking forward to covering in the NFL, and more.

Christian Gonzalez is partnered with Head & Shoulders for the upcoming NFL Draft.
