Inside abandoned cruise ship that's frozen in time on a seasick-inducing tilt – The Mirror
Bob Thissen, 35, and his team of Urban Explorers were able to capture new images of the Ms Astor, which spent over 30 years at sea taking passengers on pleasant cruises.
Eerie photos show an abandoned cruise ship frozen in time.
The creepy cruise ship, named the Ms Astor, first hit the waters way back in 1986 taking passengers on delightful cruises.
Now, it has been destined for the scrapyard in a graveyard of old forgotten ships.
The ship had spent a total of 34 years at sea from the time it set sail.
However, in 2021, it was sent to one of the biggest ship demolition sites in the world in Aliaga, Turkey.
Bob Thissen, 35, and his team of Urban Explorers were able to go aboard the MS Astor before it was scrapped.
In some amazing photos, they were able to capture images of the abandoned ship.
Bob said: "We got permission from BMS ship recycling to explore this ship before it got scrapped, a unique opportunity.
"It's a weird sight to see a place like a cruise ship which is normally full of life totally empty.
"It's really sad that a ship in perfect condition like the Astor got scrapped, I'm sure it could have served for a lot more years if it wasn't for the pandemic."
Last year in April, another ship was captured by a drone after decades of being ravaged by time.
Photographer Hugo Healy said he was amazed when he spotted the boat on the shoreline of Lanzarote and had to explore it with his camera equipment.
It was said that the ship, known as The Telamon, sank on October 31, 1981.
Another abandoned cruise ship in Wales that had been docked on the banks of a Welsh estuary is looking to make a comeback.
In 2021, it WalesOnline reported that The Duke of Lancaster, a passenger ferry and cruise liner in the 1950s and 60s, had been docked for over 40 years.
But now, decades later, it is preparing for a new lease of life with grand plans to restore it to its former glory.
