Why Hailey and Justin Bieber Skipped the 2023 Met Gala

After becoming a regular attendee of the Met Gala, Hailey Bieber opted to take this year off, and so did her husband Justin. Neither of the Biebers were spotted on the Met steps this evening in New York City for the museum’s “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty” theme.

In the weeks leading up to the event, rumors spread that Hailey wouldn’t attend after a screenshot of a DM she allegedly sent spread on social media. “I’m not going to the Met Gala this year,” the message read. “Gearing up for our next Rhode launch so decided to sit this one out but will be back next year.”

Hailey recently opened up about how challenging 2023 has been for her mental health. She wrote on her Instagram Story in late April, “I like to make jokes about how I feel because sometimes it’s easier than admitting I’m having a hard time. But truthfully since 2023 started I have had some of the saddest, hardest moments I’ve ever had in my adult life and my mind and emotions have been fragile to say the least. And I know woman other people feel the way I feel, so just know you’re not alone. 🫶🏼”

The same week, Us Weekly reported how Justin has struggled watching Hailey be in so much pain.

“It breaks Justin’s heart to have seen Hailey struggling emotionally the way she has been these past few months,” the source said. “He loves his wife more than anything and knows she has a heart of gold.”

“Justin knows her truth and despite what some people may say or think, he knows she only wants the best for people and has the best intentions,” the source continued. “Justin knows that life is all about the ups and downs, and he knows she’ll get through this. But it’s been difficult seeing her upset and all he can do is be by her side and be there for her no matter what.”
