Detroit Lions star rips Chicago Bears fans after NFL Draft
Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown hated everything about the Chicago Bears’ 2023 NFL Draft.
The only way to make a division rivalry better is to inject some brotherly love into the equation.
Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown gave it to his older brother Equanimeous St. Brown’s Chicago Bears over how poorly they drafted. St. Brown’s evisceration of his older brother’s team may not be totally on point, but I appreciate the candidacy to go on record with this. What we got was amazing content. Look at St. Brown showing off some dejected Bears fans.
This team had the No. 1 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, traded down to No. 9 with the Carolina Panthers, traded down again with the Philadelphia Eagles to No. 10, only to draft Tennessee offensive tackle Darnell Wright and a bunch of players Bears fans have never even heard of.
I don’t know else to say this, but Bears general manager Ryan Poles traded in his golden ticket for an all you can eat buffet of fool’s gold.
While I hope it works out for the Bears in the end, how do you not end up with Will Anderson Jr., Jalen Carter or even Bijan Robinson when you didn’t need a quarterback and you had the No. 1 pick?! St. Brown is absolutely correct in seeing sad Bears fans go through the five stages of grief in real time during last weekend’s shenanigans over in Kansas City. Some things will never change…
Amon-Ra St. Brown adds more fuel to Detroit Lions’ rivalry with Chicago Bears
I thought I was on an island with this when it happened, but could not understand for the life of me why Chicago would move back eight spots from No. 1. Well, they just handed the defending NFC champion Philadelphia Eagles the best pure talent in the draft in Carter! Poles may have cut his teeth in the Chiefs organization, but this was a disaster class in how to not appreciate assets.
As long as Justin Fields improves, the Bears should at least be interesting, but they are going to be duking it out for fourth place in the NFC North with the Green Bay Packers this season. Nothing that the Bears did in the draft screams to me, “oh, this group is going to be dynastic in five years!” I could be wrong, but I’m getting really tired of being told how fantastic the ’85 Bears defense was.
I’m 33, going on 34…
Ultimately, this is a rebuilding operation in Chicago. While I can understand Poles’ proclivity for accumulating assets, you win games with more good players, as opposed to ones you got for greater value. I don’t build football teams for a living; I just rip on ones who I don’t think they know what they are doing. Detroit had a weird draft too, but I buy into Brad Holmes and Dan Campbell…
As it is with everything, this moderately interesting NFC North rivalry will play out on the field.
