Bears rookie found the easiest way to fans’ hearts: Hating the Packers
Chicago Bears rookie Zacch Pickens is already a fan favorite, as he expressed his disdain for the team’s most hated rival, the Green Bay Packers.
The Chicago Bears have the chance to make a move up the standings after finishing with the worst record in the NFL last season. They had the most cap space in the league, and they brought in some big-name players like linebacker Tremaine Edmunds and wide receiver D.J. Moore. Not to mention that they added 10 players through the NFL Draft. But one rookie, in particular, has already endeared himself to the fanbase.
Former Bears player Spice Adams had a conversation with third-round draft pick and defensive tackle Zacch Pickens and told him how heated the rivalry between the Bears and the Green Bay Packers is. Afterward, Pickens said, “I don’t like them, all I need to know.”

And just like that, Pickens became a fan favorite in Chicago.
In 2023, the landscape of the rivalry will drastically shift. Since taking over as starting quarterback for the Packers, Aaron Rodgers “owned” the Bears. Specifically, Rodgers holds a 24-5 record against Chicago. Starting next season, there will be a new starting quarterback in Jordan Love, after Rodgers was traded to the New York Jets. Now, Bears fans hope that they will have the advantage over their heated rivals.
Pickens was selected with the 64th overall pick in the draft after spending four years as part of the South Carolina Gamecocks football program.
This past season, Pickens recorded 42 total tackles (22 solo, 20 assisted), four tackles for loss, three passes defended and 2.5 sacks.
Overall, Pickens recorded 131 total tackles (69 solo, 62 assisted), 11.5 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, four passes defensed and two fumble recoveries.
Pickens has the chance to let the Packers know how he feels about them, as the Bears host them in Week 1 on Sunday, Sept. 10 at 4:25 p.m. ET.
