It’s slime time: Patrick Mahomes takes centerstage for Nickelodeon game

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes will take on Davante Adams and the Las Vegas Raiders on Nickelodeon. It’s officially slime time.

Paging Spongebob, Patrick, Squidward and Sandy — you have an NFL game to cover once again.

The NFL and Nickelodeon team up at least once each year to bring the league to a new audience — kids. Yes, Roger Goodell wants to start ’em young, hoping to reach a new generation of fans before they even reach their teens. What he doesn’t know is that I, too, enjoy these broadcasts — and I am 30 years old.

This season, the league picked arguably the best game of all — Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs against the rival Raiders. While Las Vegas is expected to take a step back this season, it’s still a heated matchup featuring one of the best quarterbacks in the history of football. And perhaps best of all, it should be high scoring with plenty of end zone slime.

Kansas City Chiefs schedule leaks continue

Kansas City’s opponents aren’t a mystery at this point, it’s just the matter of where they will play. The Chiefs will face AFC West division opponents six times total — with this matchup against the Raiders counting for one of those.

As for Mahomes, he should have a shiny new contract long before Week 5, as reports suggest he’ll become the highest-paid player in football once again after that throne was stolen from him by the likes of Lamar Jackson and more. Per Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, the KC front office will not let that stand:

“Chiefs G.M. Brett Veach already has vowed to address the Mahomes deal after more quarterback contracts are completed. While Veach didn’t delve into any specifics, here’s what reasonably should be expected, based on our conversations with folks aware of the dynamics of the situation.

Expect Mahomes, before the season begins, to once again be the highest-paid player in league history.”

Just like slime, Mahomes will be seeing plenty of green.
