Davante Adams compared 1 NFC receiver to himself in Top 5 ranking

Las Vegas Raiders star Davante Adams compared himself to another high-profile wide receiver.

Davante Adams’ future has been a hot-button topic this summer on the heels of his dominant debut season with the Las Vegas Raiders.

The six-time Pro Bowl receiver joined his former college teammate Derek Carr and the two made beautiful music together. He compiled 1,516 yards through the air and snatched a league-best 14 touchdowns.

Unfortunately, the Raiders as a team did not experience the same success as Adams did individually. A 6-11 record, followed by Carr’s departure, has been enough to stir the rumor mill into a frenzy. Vegas does not appear ready to contend.

Adams, in his football prime at 30 years old, is understandably concerned about the direction of the franchise.

For now, however, Adams is a Raider. Unequivocally elite, Adams has the reputation of a top-5 player at his position. When asked about the best receivers in the NFL on a recent podcast appearance, however, Adams made a surprising comparison between himself and another Pro Bowler.

Raiders’ Davante Adams compares himself to Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb

For CeeDee Lamb, to be compared stylistically to Davante Adams is extremely high praise. The Oklahoma product already has two Pro Bowl appearances in three NFL seasons with the Dallas Cowboys. While Lamb’s numbers don’t quite stack up to Adams in the present, his 1,359 yards last season were more than Adams tallied in his third season (997).

Lamb and Adams are similarly built — Lamb is one inch taller, Adams in 25 pounds heavier. Both are known for acrobatic catches and soft hands. Lamb does not have the privilege of starting his career next to Aaron Rodgers, but he has found plenty of success building chemistry with Dak Prescott.

Now the undisputed alpha dog in Dallas’ wide receiver corps, expect Lamb to have another explosive season in 2023. He will share touches with Michael Gallup and Brandin Cooks, but Lamb will be Prescott’s first option. His big-play ability and penchant for endzone playmaking is unmatched on the Cowboys’ current roster.

Meanwhile, Adams should continue to put up numbers with Vegas (or any team that trades for him). The Raiders are handing the QB reigns to Jimmy Garoppollo. While not the most powerful arm in the sport, Jimmy G can still locate his receivers and play efficient toss-and-catch. Expect Adams to make another strong Pro Bowl push, even if the Raiders don’t win many games.
