Aaron Rodgers fires back at Packers front office in tell-all interview

Aaron Rodgers discussed his exit from the Green Bay Packers in an interview with The Athletic. At times, Rodgers did not sound thrilled.

Aaron Rodgers was seemingly on good terms with the Packers at the time of his trade from Green Bay to New York. He’s excited for the opportunity to lead a new franchise, and understood the Packers sentiment in moving forward with Jordan Love.

What he doesn’t understand is why they wouldn’t come out and say so.

Rodgers is the next in a long line of Packers players shipped away at the tail end of their careers. It was something the future Hall of Famer commented on in his Pat McAfee Show segment post-darkness retreat. For the most part, he gets it.

For the most part. From The Athletic:

“Did Brian text me more than I texted him? Yeah, but did I ghost him? No,” Rodgers said. “I texted him back. There was back-and-forths that we had and so this is the story you wanna go with? You’re gonna stand on this hill of austerity and say that arguably in the conversation of the best player in your franchise history, you’re gonna say I couldn’t get a hold of him and that’s why we had to move on?

“Like, c’mon man. Just tell the truth, you wanted to move on. You didn’t like the fact that we didn’t communicate all the time. Like, listen, I talk to the people that I like.”

Packers: Aaron Rodgers torches Brian Gutekunst

There were plenty of juicy details in the story, which is certainly worth a read in its entirety. Rodgers discussed the Jordan Love pick, how he knew his time in Green Bay was up, and rumors that his agent called the Packers with a demand to fire Gutekunst back in 2021.

This, however, remains the most emotional comment Rodgers has made on his exit.
