Inside Taylor Swift’s Feelings Post-Matty Healy Split: ‘She Will Not Be Writing Albums About This One’
More reporting has come out since news broke yesterday of Taylor Swift and Matty Healy’s breakup, and universally, the sources made one thing clear: it was never meant to last, and Swift isn’t upset about it.
A source told Us Weekly, “Taylor’s friends aren’t surprised [she and Matty broke up]. She wasn’t ready for another serious relationship just yet.”
Another source told People, “She had fun with him, but it was always casual. They are no longer romantically involved.”
And a third, very blunt source told Page Six, “Everyone who really knows her has been saying all along that this was a fun, good time thing that would last as long as it lasted and would be no big deal once it was done. It’s [the media frenzy around Healy and Swift is] all stupid. She will not be writing albums about this one. It was a summertime thing. Does everyone have amnesia about Tom Hiddleston? Jesus Christ.” Swift and Hiddleston memorably were involved in a whirlwind summer 2016 romance. That one did actually produce a song though; “Getaway Car” is widely believed to be about Hiddleston.
Swift started dating Healy shortly after she broke up with Joe Alwyn in March. Alwyn and Swift were romantically involved for six years.
News of her Healy romance broke at the beginning of May. When the split was initially reported yesterday, a source told Entertainment Tonight that Swift genuinely wasn’t ready for her next big love story. “Taylor and Matty broke up. They are both extremely busy and realized they’re not really compatible with each other,” the source started. “Taylor’s friends want what’s best for her and aren’t shocked that their relationship fizzled out since she recently got out of a long-term relationship.”
