Patrick Mahomes Coors Light commercial circumvents all the rules

Since the NFL won’t allow Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes to promote beer, Coors Light found a loophole to include him in a commercial.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is the biggest star in the NFL, given his success through his first five years as a starter. He has won the Super Bowl twice and won NFL and Super Bowl MVP awards twice each. Much like any star athlete, companies want them to advertise their products or services.

Mahomes is a big fan of Coors Light, as evidenced by his drinking the beer at the Super Bowl parade and at The Match when he teamed with Josh Allen in a golf competition against Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers in 2022. Coors Light and Mahomes do have a working relationship, but the NFL won’t allow the quarterback or any player to promote beer or any alcohol.

So, Coors Light and Mahomes worked around it, instead promoting “Coors Light Bear.” Yes, a bear. Take a look at the commercial for yourselves.

Patrick Mahomes promotes Coors Light Bear, not Coors Light beer

“Coors Light Bear is pure mountain cold refreshment, which is something you would totally say about a bear.” Accurate.

As the commercial states, you can purchase a bear of your own on CoorsLightBear.com. Specifically, it’s a golf club cover that is sold for $15.00, with a limit of one sold per customer. All proceeds will go to the quarterback’s “15 and the Mahomies Foundation,” which was set up to improve the lives of children and “supports initiatives that focus on health, wellness, communities in need of resources and other charitable causes.”

This isn’t the first time that Mahomes and Coors Light came up with a way to promote the brand, but not the beer. Last year, Mahomes promoted “The Coors Light.” Much like the bear, all proceeds from the sale of the flashlights went to the “15 and the Mahomies Foundation.”

Mahomes and Coors Light have once again found a way to promote the brand, all while not explicitly promoting alcohol. Come on, you know you want a Coors Light Bear to bring to your next golf outing.
