'My neighbour won't stop peeing on the roof – the smell wafts to my patio' – The Mirror

A woman is disgusted with her neighbour’s son, as she can no longer enjoy spending time in her garden without smelling urine – because he keeps peeing out of his window
A woman has expressed her disgust after discovering her neighbour's teenage son has been urinating out of his bedroom window onto the flat roof below – and she can smell it from her garden.
The homeowner said she first noticed "the smell of urine" when she was tending to her garden, but didn't realise what the source of the smell was until she was sitting on her patio and thought she "heard rain", before realising where the source of the noise was coming from.
She added that she doesn't really know her neighbours so doesn't feel as though she can speak to her about the problem, and is also hesitant to do so as she knows some of the other people in the house have had run-ins with police before.
In a post on Reddit, the unnamed resident said: "This is a weird one, but I'm unsure what to do about it. I thought I heard rain earlier, but it turned out one of our neighbour's sons was p***ing out of the upstairs bedroom onto the flat roof below. Earlier today, I noticed the smell of urine while I was doing some gardening, which was odd, so I guess that mystery is solved.
"Now for the dilemma. I don't know how to deal with this. I don't know the mother beyond saying hello outside the house. The sons (three or four between the ages of early teens to early 20s) smoke weed constantly, have fairly frequent arguments outside the house at night, and one of them has been taken away in a police car a few times.
"What would you do? They're owners, not tenants, so there's no landlord or council to escalate this to. And I don't want to make everyday life difficult, but given the sudden and extremely strong smell of urine next to my patio, this is already becoming an issue for me. It's a typical East London 1920s terrace house, so there's no escaping it due to its proximity."
In an edit to the post, the woman confirmed the teenager was urinating on the roof of his own property, and not onto her roof, as some people in the comments were confused.
But commenters were still left baffled, with many of them urging the woman to speak to the boy's mum.
One person said: "You didn't shout at the dirty f***er at the time? Pop round and calmly but firmly tell the parents that you don't ever want a repeat of it. Don't say too much and be very passive-aggressive."
While another added: "As suggested, have a chat with the mother. If you do not get anywhere call your force on 101 or online report as there are a couple of offences there straight away."
And a third posted: "You can escalate to the council as it sounds like some anti-social behaviour is going on, however going through the council to resolve this will end up with you having to inform potential buyers of your property that you have had a dispute with your neighbours."
