Everything Kim Cattrall Has Said About Her Cameo In ‘And Just Like That’
The internet exploded when it was revealed that Kim Cattrall would finally make an appearance on And Just Like That, the continuation of the Sex and the City story. On SATC, Cattrall’s character Samantha Jones was an integral part of the iconic foursome, but with her very public falling out with the rest of the cast, it seemed she’d never come back to the set.
The brief cameo was filmed away from pretty much everyone else in the show, with Page Six reporting from a source, “Kim had two stipulations — one, that she would not act with any of the other girls, and two, she did not want to see [showrunner] Michael Patrick King.”
But Cattrall has revealed a bit more about her role as she promotes the big moment.
June 28, 2023: Cattrall shares her “one condition” for returning.
While being interviewed on The View, she shared some of her conditions for her return.
“It’s very interesting to get a call from the head of HBO saying, ‘What can we do?’ and I went, ‘Hmm. Let me get creative,’” Cattrall said. “And one of those things was to get [costume designer] Pat Field back, because I just thought that if I’m going to come back I gotta come back with that Samantha style, I gotta push it.”
“And we did,” she added.
June 30, 2023: Cattrall says fans will be “happy.”
While being interviewed on TODAY by Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager, Cattrall shared more words from Field, who said the famous stylist told her, “People will be so happy… Make people happy, you’re funny.”
She also assured the TODAY hosts that they got a “great friggin outfit for the moment.”
The actress states that the filming was smooth, adding, “It felt like dipping my toe back in time and having a wonderful afternoon, and then a great martini.”
But will she get in deeper?
“That’s as far as I’ll go,” she said.
She added, “I don’t think I’ll ever say goodbye to Samantha… She’s like a lot of other characters that I’ve done over the years. I get very emotionally attached and protective of my characters. She gave me so much and I’m so appreciative of her.”
