Homeowner living in 'horror film' after finding hidden 'frozen in time' flat in attic – The Mirror
A man has taken to social media to share how he discovered an entire house hidden inside his attic – and has drawn up plans for what he wants to do with the extra space
A man has been left speechless after discovering a creepy house hidden behind a false wall in his attic. He explained how he was exploring his new home when he decided to venture into the attic to check out its size.
But when doing so, he came across a crawl space no bigger than two metres in height. He noticed a small gap in its ceiling and decided to break through it to see what was on the other side – expecting to be faced with nothing but the back of his roofing tiles. However, that's not what he found.
"There's a house inside my attic," the man said on Reddit. "I was pretty excited [when I found it but] a little creeped out." He discovered the hidden house about three years ago – but only recently ventured back upstairs to explore it and take new pictures.
The man added: "Finally went back up to get some good pictures, just as creepy as I remember."
The hidden house appears to have a living room, two bedrooms and a bathroom.
While it is mostly empty, there are a few pieces of furniture and personal items still inside.
He went on to explain how his house started out as a shop before being turned into a church and ultimately a family home.
He added: "It was a store where the owners lived upstairs. But it was turned into a church – I'm guessing the church owners didn't want to bother with knocking it down so they just built around it.
"They laid insulation over the floor boards of the house.
"But what's more interesting is the floor to the attic – it's not studs with insulation in between but a hardwood floor covering the whole attic with insulation on top.
"[There is] junk, an old cabinet, a tire, a hat, a toilet and sink [inside]. Dirt, lots of dirt, and spiders.
"Its kind of like it's frozen in time up there. I saw some newspaper pieces, I'll have to collect them and see if I can get a year off it."
While some users urged him to "sell the property" before the ghosts show up, he says he wants to transform the hidden house into an extra living space in time.
"If I clean out the insulation and the other house then I can make a second floor. Literally double my living space. Expensive and time consuming though," he said.
Commenting on the discovery, one user said: "It's like the past owners kept children up there for a bit. You didn't find any scrolls or ritual figurines up there, right?"

In response, the man said: "No, I'd guess Satan lives there because it was over 100F up there."
A third user said: "It's honestly amazing you weren't killed by some horror movie s*** when you checked out the first house in the attic, don't press your luck by checking for a house in the attic of that house in your attic.
"Just burn it down, sell the property to some young yuppie couple and move across the country.
"The only way to make it out of a horror movie is to be the couple at the beginning that dumps the haunted whatever on the protagonists."
