'Men are obsessed with my hair – I've had 100 proposals and been offered £250k to cut it' – The Mirror

‘Real-life Rapunzel’ Jasmine Larsen gets inundated with requests from men, offering her diamond rings and extreme amounts of cash to cut her 4ft 7in-long hair. But not even £250,000 will convince her to chop it
We might all be living in Barbie's world at the moment, but real-life Disney princess, Jasmine Larsen, is living in Rapunzel's.
The 22-year-old started growing her hair out in 2017, and now her luscious red locks are 4ft 7in-long and fall down to her knees.
She claims more than 100 men have sent her proposal requests online, and she was almost enticed to chop it off with the whopping offer of £250,000.
But, the so-called 'real-life Rapunzel', turned it down, saying: "No, I'm sorry. I'm not gonna send my hair, I'm not gonna cut it. This is my hair, and it's priceless."
Jasmine, who lives in Bristol, had no idea that her locks would attract the attention of some of the richest men around the world when she first started posting about it online. Then, when she hit 10,000 followers on Instagram, brands began reaching out for collaborations – and so did fellas with fetishes.
"When I first received [an offer], I did think about it because it's a lot of money," she said. "It was actually a video request and he offered £3,000. He wanted my partner to lick my hair, but I didn't have a partner and I wasn't going to let anyone lick my hair. The second one wanted me to chop my hair and then send it off to him and that was for like £250,000."
Others are attracted to specific hairstyles and request Jasmine to do up-dos or buns. "One guy made a video of a cartoon character slowly eating my long hair," she said. On top of the bizarre pleas, the young woman has been inundated with obsessive men asking for her hand in marriage.
"I think it's because they know that I'm single and I have long hair, and I'm a sweet person," she said. "So they're just sending these proposals and some of them are begging for it." Jasmine initially "felt bad about rejecting them" and sent out a message on social media to explain that she's not interested in marrying a stranger.
The crazy attention she gets online is a world away from her previous professional job. "I was working as a production editor at a scientific publishing company. I was proofing papers, it was an office job and I found that really boring," she explained. "I'm really happy that what I'm doing now is really creative, it's ever-changing and I see myself doing this for a very long time."
Jasmine, who runs her own company Lars Haircare, plans on growing her locks out until it reaches the ground – and then she wants to chop it off. "It's my biggest accomplishment because it's not easy to grow hair this big, it's my accessory," she said. "I want to reach floor length and then I think I might put it back to classic length around the hips and keep it at that length for the long-term."
But, what is Jasmine's secret to keeping her hair so thick and healthy? "I always do a pre-wash treatment," she explained. "I apply coconut oil to my lengths and then I apply a rosemary scalp treatment to my scalp. I massage that in before washing it out with shampoo and conditioner.
"In between wash days, I always apply some hair oil, I brush my hair once and then I braid it. I always wear protective hairstyles and never use heat styling tools and at night I sleep on a silk pillowcase and use a hair bonnet."
