Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner Reportedly ‘Agreed’ to Keep Kids in U.S. With Him Because of Her Work Schedule
When news of Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas’ divorce first came out, a source portrayed Jonas as raising the couple’s two daughters all on his own the past few months. Both Turner and Jonas actually agreed that the kids should stay with him, a source close to the couple told People, because Turner has been filming ITVX series Joan in the U.K. since May.
The girls, ages 3 and 1, have “more support” living with Jonas, the source said. “She has been shooting which is why the kids have been with Joe. It’s just been easier because she’s been working for the kids to be with him because there’s some more support at home and on the road with his family. It’s something they both agreed was best.”
Us Weekly, meanwhile, got intel from a source who said that the couple’s issues have been going on quietly for quite some time, and those close to them knew the divorce was coming.
“Friends could see there had been a disconnect between the two for a while now, and their connection just didn’t seem quite the same as it had been in the past,” the source said. “Joe hadn’t let many people know their issues went further than that and that they had been struggling in their marriage for longer than they let on.”
Jonas and Turner released a brief statement yesterday confirming their divorce and addressing some of the misogynistic reporting to come out about their split. They said:
After four wonderful years of marriage we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage. There are many speculative narratives as to why but, truly this is a united decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children.
