'My husband is going on dog walks with a much younger woman – I don't trust him' – The Mirror

A woman is suspicious of her husband after he started going on dog walks with a much younger woman he met at work, as she says she now feels ‘insecure’ about their marriage
A woman has been left questioning her marriage after her husband began going on dog walks with a much younger woman from his workplace. The woman explained she and her husband, both in their 30s, recently got a dog after he was desperate for a furry friend, and because he was the one keen on having a dog, he takes care of it most of the time.
But following a work retreat, the man met a 23-year-old woman who also had a dog, and the pair apparently bonded instantly over their shared love of canines. Now, the man and his colleague meet up "twice a week" to walk their dogs together, and the man's wife can't help but feel "insecure" about their relationship.
The woman insisted her husband is fully open with her about the dog walks and she doesn't believe he is having an affair, but knowing how close he has become with the other woman has "rubbed her the wrong way" and she isn't sure if she can trust her partner or his colleague.
In a post on Mumsnet, she wrote: "My husband is 35 and I admit, usually quite an isolated man. He works from home and does have very few friends and hobbies. He has wanted a dog his whole life and while I do love our dog, my husband does do it all, especially as he is the one at home.
"He had to go for an in-person workshop a few months ago and there was an icebreaker challenge and this 23-year-old woman mentioned her new puppy and apparently they clicked over the dogs? Not trying to be a downer here, but surely owning a dog isn't that rare, I am friends with about 8 people who have dogs. I instantly found it rather childish when he was telling me, but this woman ended up giving her number to him at the end of the day. My husband tells me he told her that she and I would get along and tried to say as much as he could to me to make it sound so obviously nothing more than friends, but I just got the impression he had a bit of chemistry there.
"Basically, he did text her and they arranged a play date for the dogs. The messages seemed very innocent and he would always tell me and it didn't seem like he had any weird motive and was just [telling me] out of excitement. She then got him a birthday present only a week later and now they meet up twice a week to walk the dogs. He's very open about it with me and is never trying to act secretive but it really rubs me up the wrong way. I think I must have issues because seriously, him even saying her name makes me cringe. Am I just massively insecure? I simply don't like it."
Commenters on the post were split, as while some say they would be fuming if their partner did something similar, others encouraged the woman to trust the man she married. One person said: "Nah, alarm bells would be ringing. Funny how when these things happen, it's never another man that people 'click' with, is it?"
While another added: "It's a recipe for disaster. If he's not already shagging her, he definitely wants to and given the chance more than likely will. Don't give him that chance," but another defended the man, stating: "If this was reversed it would be a different kettle of fish one would presume? He's been open and honest, where's the trust?"
