A production company claims to have captured the first ever video of the Loch Ness Monster during the recent mass hunt for the creature, using a thermal imaging camera
Researchers have claimed to have captured the “first ever video” of the Loch Ness Monster, seemingly shows a large animal relaxing on the bank.
The bizarre sighting was made at night using heat sensing drone technology as part of the recent mass hunt for the creature in Scotland – the biggest in half a century.
Production company Dragonfly Films used thermal imaging tech as part of the hunt and believe they filmed Nessie near the shore.
The project’s producer Tim Whittard said: “These thermal drones allowed us to see the loch in infrared. With this equipment we were able to see immediately if any animal breaks the water’s surface.
“This thermal imaging technology has been available for several years now, and it seems remarkable that no one has yet deployed such equipment in an effort to investigate this mystery. It did detect an unusual heat signature on one of the thermal imaging drones – a large mass near the shore.''
Researchers and enthusiasts travelled from all over the globe with some coming from as far away as Japan and Australia to join the search. The footage will be included in the season finale of new TV series ‘Weird Britain’ by Dragonfly Films, which is expected to be broadcast on television in the UK and released online later this year.
During the search a UK couple said they 'want to believe' they spotted the Loch Ness Monster after noticing an unusual shape in the water. Aga Balinska, 42, and Matty Wiles, 49, cancelled a planned holiday to the Lake District to race up to Inverness-shire last weekend after hearing that the largest search for the mythical creature in 50 years was taking place.
They braved 'horrific' weather conditions to join hundreds of other monster enthusiasts from around the world at the famous loch, some of whom were equipped with drones and infrared cameras. Despite not expecting to see anything, the couple from Hull claim they saw a mysterious squiggly line on the horizon after going for a swim in the lake – which then moved to the left and disappeared.
Mr Wiles said: "We were booked to go to the Lake District a couple of weeks ago but heard about this on social media. We cancelled so we could go. We aren’t sure it’s Nessie, we can’t be 100 per cent certain. We want to believe it. We went down to the beach at 6.30am and we saw it before we got in the water.
"We wanted to swim out to it but it was too far out. We turned and it had gone to the left, then it disappeared. The loch was like a millpond, there was no mistaking it for a wave. It stood out three or four feet from the water."
