Which Pac-12 QB takes the top spot?
We are little more than one month into the 2023 college football season and, oh lawd, what a season it has been. From Buffaloes Nation to Bama’s early scuffles to “College GameDay” visiting Duke of all places, the leaves haven’t even started changing colors and it’s already been one of the most unforeseen falls in recent memory.
What I’m saying is, we could use an anchor. Something to hold on to as we try to steady ourselves for a Bo Jackson-like leap into October and the heart of the college football calendar. And what better ballast is there than a nearly century-old 45-pound hunk of cast bronze?
For our preseason tracker, it was only natural that the combined votes from 15 of ESPN’s college football writers placed the quarterback who won it one year ago at the top — Caleb Williams, you know, the Trojan from hamburger commercials. So, is he still up top, or has someone else from the suddenly unstoppable Pac-12 (unless you’re a group of university presidents) stepped up to take his place? Commence scrolling and find out!
Points awarded: 5 for first-place votes, 4 for second, 3 for third, 2 for fourth and 1 for fifth. Odds by Caesars Sportsbook (through Sept. 27).
