Man considers childhood girlfriend's bizarre request – despite his wife's dismay – The Mirror

Leaving childhood sweethearts in the past is something most people will do – but one man has shared his former flame has gotten back in touch with a extremely unusual request
Childhood sweethearts, for some, turn into long-lasting relationships, but for others, they come to an end and just become a distant memory. But what would you do if your long-lost lover got back in touch with you decades later with a completely out-of-the-blue request?
One man has revealed his former old flame from high school has gotten back in touch with him – with an utterly shocking request that has rocked his world. Leaving his wife seething, he has admitted he is contemplating responding to her and not telling his wife, but he knows it would end his marriage and change his life completely.
Sharing with Slate's 'Ask Prudence' advice column, the man revealed his former girlfriend "Lisa" got in touch to tell him that she fell pregnant 20 years ago but claimed she was "bribed to have an abortion" by his mother. She has now asked if he would consider giving her a chance to have a child with her again after losing the first one.
In his message, he anonymously confessed he is tempted to go forward with it despite being a "happily married man" and has children too. He no longer has contact with his mum, but isn't surprised she would have done something like this. He explained: "Lisa, who is childless and unmarried now, has a lot of regrets about the abortion and requested that I father another child with her to replace the one she lost then."
Stuck in a dilemma, his wife unsurprisingly "shot it down" when he suggested it, but he feels as if he owes it to Lisa to give her a child – seeing as he already had many years ago. He now wonders if he should consider doing it without telling his wife and "leave her out of it entirely" to help Lisa out – although his wife said it would be the same as "cheating on her".
He added: "To be clear, I get that extramarital sex is literally the definition of cheating, but this scenario is kind of different because I'd only be doing it to help Lisa – can it really technically be considered cheating if it's for an altruistic reason?" Not impressed with his thoughts, the advice from Prudence was clear. He was branded "absurd" for even considering it. The columnist responded with some harsh words and told him to "step away from his fantasies" .
The response read: "When it comes to Lisa's desire to have a child today, I can think of about 75 paths to motherhood (starting with having sex with one of the other millions of men in the world) that make more sense than 'have my high school boyfriend cheat on his wife and impregnate me'," and further told him to him "drop the plan".
