According to detectives, the investigation began on January 7, 2022, after detectives received information regarding an inappropriate relationship that had occurred between 32-year-old Kyle Handfield and a student who was 14 years old at the time of the incident. DELTONA, FL – Volusia sheriff’s detectives have arrested a suspect in the sexual battery of a 12-year-old girl who deputies recovered after she ran away from Florida United Methodist Children’s Home in August 2021.
