How to get rid of yellow toilet seat stains in 5 minutes with £2 'natural solution' – The Mirror

Nobody likes a yellow-stained loo. If you’re struggling to get those stubborn, grim marks off of your toilet seat, one cleaning expert says you need to try a simple solution that costs less than £2
Scrubbing the loo is perhaps the worst household chore there is – but lifting stubborn stains doesn't have to be difficult.
The bottom of the toilet seat is often forgotten about, but over time it can turn yellow and brown. This unsightly stain isn't what you're thinking, but actually a build-up of hard water leaving mineral deposits, also known as limescale.
If you're not having any look with expensive toilet cleaners with harsh chemicals and strong scents, a 'natural solution' may just do the trick. You'll probably already have the products lying around the house – or can pick them up for £1.95.
Nancy Emery, a cleaning expert at Drench, recommends creating a paste by mixing baking powder and white wine vinegar together and applying it directly onto the stained area. "If you leave it working for five minutes, then wipe clean with a microfibre cloth, the stains should lift," she added.
Emery says for 'deeper, older stains', you may need to repeat the process. You can grab both products from most supermarkets for a couple of quid. Tesco for example, sells a 200g tub of bicarb for 65p and a 350ml bottle of white wine vinegar for £1.30.

If your toilet seat is now sparkling fresh, there's an unusual way you can keep stubborn marks at bay for good. Turns out, WD-40 isn't just for car maintenance, and can act as both a toilet cleaner and stain preventer.
The brand says it liquid spray turns into a gaseous form when applied onto the bog, which loosens the particles of the stains to get rid of it. Simply let the product do its magic then wipe off and flush.
"WD-40 creates a seal around the affected areas to stop the stains from sticking to the pores of the surface." A spokesperson for the company said. "With the highly potent liquid, you can get yourself a sparkling clean toilet within a few minutes."
