Your Chinese zodiac sign can dictate certain things about your personality, good and bad. And these traits make you more compatible with some, and less with others – which could be a recipe for disaster in a relationship
If you're looking for Mr or Mrs Right, you might want to swerve some of these Chinese zodiac signs or risk a massive plash of personalities.
On February 10 we enter the Chinese or Lunar new year and the Year of the Dragon, and whoever is born during that year will be represented by that legendary creature. Your personal zodiac animal sign is determined by the year you are born, based on a 12-year cycle.
So whether you're a Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog or Pig, you'll have signs you're more – and less compatible with. According to Chinese astrology, each sign dictates certain things about your personality – which can result in hefty clashes and chaos in relationships if you're not compatible.
Rabbit and Rooster
Year of the Rabbit: 1915, 1927, 1939, 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999, 2011, 2023.
Year of the Rooster: 1945, 1957, 1969, 1981, 1993, 2005, 2017, 2029.
According to Chinese astrology, those born in the Year of the Rabbit are known for their calm, peaceful and adaptable personality. This is a sharp contrast to Roosters, who are known for being aggressive and picky.
Put these two together and you'll find that Rabbits will get easily agitated by people who are born in a Rooster year's inability to compromise. There may also be a sense of jealousy between the two, as Roosters tend to be ambitious and like tasting their own success.
Ox and Goat
Year of the Ox: 1925, 1937, 1949, 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997, 2009, and 2021.
Year of the Goat: 1919, 1931, 1943, 1955, 1967, 1979, 1991, 2003, 2015, 2027, 2039, 2051.
Those born in the Year of the Ox are known for their patience and honesty, but it's their stubborness which can cause them to clash with others. Meanwhile, Sheep are known for their peaceful and gentle personalities. This makes them likely to clash with the short-tempered Ox. Sheep are also known for having a soft, creative and artistic side – something an aggressive Ox struggles to understand.
Tiger and Monkey
Year of the Tiger: 1926, 1938, 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, 2010, 2022.

Those born in the Year of the Tiger and Monkey aren't compatible because they are both highly competitive. They both possess dominant personalities, which means they are likely to clash. Because Tigers are confident, it makes it hard for them to obey others. And Monkeys are not easy to manipulate with dominance.
Pig and Snake

Those born in the Year of the Snake like to keep to themselves, while Pigs are sociable and inquisitive souls. Snakes can also be sly, which clashes against Pigs frank and honest personality.
Rat and Horse

Dog and Dragon

Those born in the Year of the Dragon can be headstrong and arrogant, and feel superior to others. This is a stark contrast to the kind, loyal and amiable Dog. However, Dogs aren't good at communicating, and struggle to convey their thoughts to others. Meanwhile, Dragons don't let their guard down, which ends up being a recipe for disaster.
