Gardening expert claims we're killing plants with major watering error – The Mirror

As those lucky enough to have a garden prepare to make it look pretty for summer, one expert has warned that you’re watering your plants wrong – and it can cause them to die
As better weather gets closer and closer, many who are green-fingered will be desperate to get into outdoor spaces and get cracking with jobs you've not been able to do all winter.
But, did you know that you've been watering your plants all wrong, and it's actually killing them? Expert Sabrina, who posts on social media as @sabrina.sustainable.life has shared that one of the biggest "mistakes" she used to make when in her garden was the way she watered her plants.
You may wonder why your plants just seem to wither and die, and it could be because of the way you're watering the plants.
She warned that the mistake she used to make was watering her flowers and plants from above – which many people do without thinking. However, Sabrina claimed that watering overhead can "contribute to bacterial and fungal diseases", and instead you should "water your plant at the base of it" to ensure it's healthy.
The gardening expert went on to warn people to "avoid getting the foliage wet" as this is a common mistake that could be causing the premature death of your plants.
Sabrina continued to recommend planting marigolds in the garden, as they "help attract good pests, and help deter bad ones", but urged people to regularly check for pests, warning that they often linger on the underside of leaves. If you find any eggs of pests, simply remove them from your plants.
Sabrina added that if you adhere to these tips, it'll save you time, and money, and will "help you have a more successful garden."
In the comments, people were super grateful for the expert's advice, begging her to share more tips in the future. One wrote: "Need more of these! I love it." "These are so helpful", another keen gardener praised. "You couldn't be more correct", someone added.
