Transfer Talk: Brentford's Toney could be available for £40m
The summer transfer window won’t reopen in Europe for a while yet, but there are plenty of moves in the works and gossip swirling around. Transfer Talk brings you all the latest buzz on rumours, comings, goings and, of course, done deals!
TOP STORY: Valuation for Brentford’s Toney set at around £40m
A whole host of Premier League clubs are interested in Brentford striker Ivan Toney with his valuation currently set at around £40 million, according to Florian Plettenberg.
The Bees’ demands for the 28-year-old have often been reported as being far more expensive than the one stated by the Sky Sports Deutschland reporter, with some having even suggested it would be around £100m.
Even so, the new figure is £40m, which could result in plenty of interest in the England international.
West Ham United have enquired about Toney but the move from the Hammers is not hot at this stage.

There are various other clubs interested, with Chelsea and Arsenal among those who are monitoring the striker closely ahead of the summer transfer window.
With just one year left on his contract, Toney is widely expected to leave the Gtech Community Stadium this summer with Brentford not willing to let their star striker leave on a free transfer and no new deal in sight.
Toney was suspended until the beginning of January due to betting offences, but he has since scored four goals and provided the assist for another in 13 Premier League appearances.
He also made his second England appearance in March, scoring his first international goal in the Three Lions’ 2-2 draw against Belgium.
PAPER GOSSIP
– Liverpool, Manchester City, and Real Madrid have all been watching Bayer Leverkusen wing-back Jeremie Frimpong, according to TEAMtalk. In addition to the Dutchman being available for £34m, the two Premier League clubs are particularly interested in the 23-year-old as he could allow Trent Alexander-Arnold to push into midfield, or act as a long-term replacement for Kyle Walker.
– Aston Villa are looking at Internazionale wing-back Denzel Dumfries, reports Calciomercato, with Inter willing to take any offer over €30m into consideration. Dumfries hasn’t made a final decision on his future, but the 27-year-old currently doesn’t want to join Villa as his priority is to play for a club that is fighting to win their domestic title and the UEFA Champions League.
– Viktor Gyökeres considers Arsenal as his choice to join in the summer from Sporting CP, according to FootballTransfers, which adds that Chelsea have made no approach for the striker despite being interested. The only potential stumbling block for Arsenal is that Sporting are demanding a first instalment of €80m with the rest of Gyokeres’ €100m release clause being paid further down the line — figures the Gunners will try to negotiate down.
– Tottenham Hotspur are looking for a new striker to come in and strengthen their attack in the summer, according to Rudy Galetti. Feyenoord‘s Santiago Giménez is the priority with talks having already gone on for weeks, with Genoa‘s Albert Gudmundsson being an alternative as well as the topic of interest from Internazionale.
– Bayern Munich are keen to sign Cremonese midfielder Guido Della Rovere for their academy, as reported by Fabrizio Romano. The 16-year-old has featured on the Serie B club’s bench but is yet to get any minutes, yet is also being looked at by several other clubs including Ajax and Juventus.
