Transfer Talk: Manchester United to replace Antony with Olise?

The summer transfer window won’t reopen in Europe for a while yet, but there are plenty of moves in the works and gossip swirling around. Transfer Talk brings you all the latest buzz on rumours, comings, goings and, of course, done deals!

TOP STORY: Man Utd to replace Antony with Olise?

Manchester United are preparing for a busy summer of ins and outs, and Rudy Galetti reports that they’re planning to allow Antony to leave and make way for the arrival of Michael Olise from Crystal Palace.

With United now spearheaded by Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Dave Brailsford, the club are looking to improve their squad in an attempt to lift the inconsistency of the last few seasons and enhance their chances of competing at the top end of the table.

One player that could make way for new signings is 24-year-old Antony. The Brazil international has suffered a disappointing season, registering just one assist in the league in 25 matches. With two further goals and one assist in the FA Cup, his overall return falls short of expectations.

Olise, 22, has been a long-term target for United and he remains high on their list of potential incomings. It’s believed the player himself prefers to move to Old Trafford over a switch to either Liverpool or Chelsea, who are also interested.

Olise has a £60 million release clause that can be triggered this summer, and United believe the Palace winger is the perfect man to bring more consistency to their wide play.

PAPER GOSSIP

Juventus are hoping to agree a move for Lazio attacking midfielder Felipe Anderson, according to Rudy Galetti. The 30-year-old Brazilian is keen on a switch to Turin after being disappointed with the offers he’s received from Lazio president Claudio Lotito to stay in Rome. Anderson has scored three goals and managed six assists in 31 games this season, but he’s hoping to return to his best form, and the Champions League, with Juve.

West Ham United and Fulham are in a race to sign Panathinaikos striker Fotis Ioannidis for £15m, according to the Sun. The 24-year-old Greece international has scored 13 goals in 23 games in the Greek Super League, but it’s his European form that has caught the eye with Ioannidis adding a further five goals in six games in the Europa League. Both West Ham and Fulham believe the powerful striker’s presence and potency in front of goal can bolster their attacks next season.

– Manchester United are emerging as favourites to land Brentford striker Ivan Toney, while it’s believed the potential arrival of Jason Wilcox to the club’s recruitment team could also help them land defender Jarrad Branthwaite from Everton, according to the Mirror. In-demand striker Toney enters the final 12 months of his contract in south London this summer and so could be available for a fee of £40m-£50m. Arsenal have been interested in Toney for some time but have cooled their interest as they target Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyökeres, while Chelsea are also said to be prioritising other targets, paving the way for United to partner Toney with Rasmus Hojlund.

Genoa are looking into the possibility of signing right-back Djed Spence in a permanent deal from Tottenham Hotspur, according to Rudy Galetti. Spence joined Genoa on loan in January and is available on a long-term basis for a fee of €10m. However, Genoa hope to reduce the fee in an effort to land a player who has impressed despite limited game time.

Paris Saint-Germain are said to be cooling their interest in Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford, according to the Sun. The French champions have been linked with a move for the 26-year-old England international since last summer but are now said to have no interest in the struggling frontman. The Parisiens are looking for a replacement for the outgoing Kylian Mbappé, who appears destined for a switch to Real Madrid. However, Rashford has struggled to find any kind of consistency on the pitch this season, failing to impress once again in United’s 2-2 draw with AFC Bournemouth on Saturday.
