Austin Wildlife Rescue saves, releases baby bald eagle – Austin American-Statesman

Austin Wildlife Rescue saved and then released America’s most iconic bird last week after severe storms.
A baby bald eagle ended up at the rescue center after storms knocked down a branch holding its nest. This was the group’s first time caring for a bald eagle, according to its Instagram post.
“The eaglet was dehydrated and hungry, so we provided the (very large) baby with fluids and nourishment,” the post said.

The day after the baby’s arrival at the center, Austin Wildlife Rescue worked with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department to renest it.
“We made a makeshift nest with a laundry basket and nesting materials and put it about 25-30 feet up in a tree, next to the one the nest had been in, securing it with rope and zip ties,” the rescue group wrote on its Instagram post.
Austin Wildlife Rescue said the owners of the land where the baby eagle lives will check up on the nest to ensure the parents are coming back to it.
