Woman hears weird noise coming through oven at 5am – then makes shock discovery – The Mirror
A family who found themselves disturbed by a strange sound coming from the inside of their oven spent hours pulling it apart – only to make an unlikely discovery
A couple who heard weird noises coming from their oven at 5.30am made a wild discovery after pulling it apart – and decided to keep what was inside.
The husband and wife say they were constantly woken up in the night by sounds coming from their kitchen and eventually narrowed it down to their oven vent. After hours of attempting to disassemble the vent and find the source of the noise, they were astounded to discover a cat trapped inside.
Taking to Reddit, the pair said they were hoping the cat would come out of its own volition. When it did not, they had to put in even more work to rescue the moggy.
User SoCalChrisW shared the wild discovery the thread r/cats, claiming they coaxed the feline out with a piece of tuna and a small towel. They wrote: "My wife woke up this morning to meowing.
"She traced it down to the vent hood of our stove, and woke me up. By 5:30, I had the vent hood and fan removed, and was still trying to get kitty out."
But the user added shoddy refurbishing work by a previous landlord had made the rescue efforts all the more difficult. "By 6:30 I was in the attic looking for a way to disassemble the venting to free it, but our house has had some questionable work done on it by the landlord, so I couldn't disassemble it without destroying it.
"So I left it open, hoping the cat would eventually come out. It didn't."
Eventually the cat emerged and was left to rest for a few hours before the duo decided to keep the kitten. The user continued: "It feels like she kind of chose us and wants in, and she's super happy just hanging out in here with me while she catches up on her rest from this morning's several hour long ordeal.
"This is my first cat in close to 20 years, I've always had dogs but tend to love all animals, so I'm excited." Reddit users congratulated the family on their impromptu addition to the family as one joked: "Where do I get one of these meowing stoves?"
