Tragic note spotted on abandoned lawnmower leaves people in stitches – The Mirror
A bizarre obituary attached to a lawnmower has prompted a Reddit community to speculate how the electrical appliance might have met its grisly end in the garden
A gardener has sparked confusion in their neighbourhood after pinning an obituary to a lawnmower for all to see.
The deceased electrical appliance was spotted abandoned on a front lawn, with a note attached that read: "Died quietly while performing its duty today. May 22, 2024, at 1721 hours."
Intrigued, a resident nearby shared a snap of it to Reddit's r/mildlyinteresting subreddit, prompting many users to speculate how it may have met its maker.
"From the height and density of the grass, it looks like they clogged it," one person theorised. "If you’re mowing grass that high with a push mower, you gotta 'wheelie' it and ease the front down, so it’s not fighting against the whole length of the grass at once."
Another guessed: "Probably used the wrong gauge extension cord and burned up the motor trying to mow grass and weed that were too tall in the first place. The mower didn't just die. He killed it."
And a third suggested: "It's probably just bogged it down to hell. Shake as much of the clippings as you can out, take it to pavement, and just keep pulling the cord. Eventually you’ll pull all the fuel out of the carb and it will run again."
Others couldn't help but poke fun at the mower's life coming to an end, with one person joking: "I hope when I die, I drop dead during work and they just leave me where I fell and put a sign on my back."
A second wrote: "Let us pay our respects to this little mighty mower, who fought bravely against the overgrowth. May it mow many immaculate patterned lawns in lawncare heaven. Amen."
A third added: "Farewell, Duramark, prince of lawn mowers, whose long and faithful friendship those who knew you won't forget! Though your body will rust, your oil lingers on in the oil bay of other machines of your master's home. May your many left spare tools ever flourish and your human friends find solace for the loss they have sustained."
