Woman finds secret room of horrors inside her own home after pulling up carpet – The Mirror
A homeowner and her partner lifted their basement carpet and made the alarming discovery – and shared a video clip on which showed a section of wall being pushed aside by her husband
A woman was left stunned after discovering a long-lost secret room hidden underneath her own home.
The homeowner and her partner made the alarming discovery after .removing their basement carpet during home renovations. The room's entrance was located through a metal door after the pair had previously found another room behind a wall mirror upstairs, which is now being used as their children's playroom. Other people on her TikTok feed however reacted to the find and said they were concerned about the couple's safety.
She shared a video clip on her feed and showed a section of wall being pushed aside by her husband. A metal door was discovered which then led to a completely new room. The couple claim the room remained disguised by a "sliding drywall pocket door." The room was long and slim and had a drain and a light switch which worked plus a collection of mats on the floor. This showed it had been used previously for another purpose which made it more sinister.
After posting the TikTok clip she wrote: "What the f***, we have never seen this in our house and we have lived here for four years." Social media were completely baffled the hidden room had not been discovered during the couple's time living in the property. Aurora and her husband suggested what the room could used for including a panic room, a bomb shelter and even a gun safe.
But the couple's TikTok followers had more sinister ideas and pointed out a panic room would not have a handle on the outside. One user responded: "Ma’am, that screams murder room. You can only open the door from the outside, there is a floor drain and 'rust' on the floor. I think you guys need to have the police come in and look at that."
Another added: "It actually looks like a room that a serial killer took his victims to chop them up. Look at the random drain in the floor." She asked her followers: "Should be we bring in a cadaver dog? No, they've probably had a gun safe in here." A TikToker later confirmed cops had been called to investigate the space, but no evidence of any crime was found. She said: "They did not see any signs of crime, they are not investigating anything, they did not see anything that looked like DNA evidence that needed to be collected, but they were really impressed on how the room was hidden and that is was really cool."
The Mirror previously told how a woman discovered a secret room in her basement – and as if that wasn't creepy enough, she then went on to uncover what's inside it. She explained how she found the room while carrying out renovation work, saying she didn't know anything about it beforehand. It was when she started removing old panelling that she broke through to the secret room. Taking to Reddit, she said: "[I found a] hidden room in the basement and things in the ceiling. The only access is through a small square in the wall, and it was covered with panelling and walled off years ago."
