'I have never washed my two-year-old daughter's hair – people say I'm gross' – The Mirror

A mum has left the internet divided after revealing that she never uses shampoo on her daughter’s hair and only ever rinses it with water – but some people have slammed her “gross” routine
A mum has left the internet in a frenzy after confessing she has never washed her two-year-old daughter's hair.
Mum Echika took to social media to share her cost-saving method, opting to skip shampoos and only rinse her daughter's hair with water. She went on to reveal her tips on how she has kept her daughter's hair looking healthy, including using a hair mask weekly or biweekly for hydration and occasionally applying argan oil for added shine.
However, some mums were not convinced of her technique, although Echika had insisted that her daughter's hair "never gets greasy." She added: "Let your toddler enjoy long luscious hair without knots." In the comments section, some people were quick to share their opinions on the mum's "gross" hair routine. One person wrote: "That’s disgusting!" Echika quickly responded to the message and said: "No it's not. I was a hair specialist with a big hair company for a couple of years.
She added: "Water rinses of everything and your own natural oils do the rest of the work [sic]" However one follower who was left intrigued by her statement, wrote: "That's so weird.. water doesn't remove bacterias and what else do u think shampoo is made for? For fun?.."
"Commercial. It is made for making money," Echika said. "And because people are used to it, your hair will get greasy every time so you will use it again." However, others responded positively to the post. "To be fair I wish I could only use water to wash my hair, you would save so much money" a person wrote. A second person added: "Shampoo just kills all the good oils."
The mum explained that to help prevent hair tangling throughout the night, it's best to sleep with a satin pillow case. She shared: "A silk pillow case and a silk bonnet can help. Also braid your hair before bed works really well, and make sure you blow-dry after you have washed or had you hair wet."
