A massive search for Nessie, a pair of eerie videos featuring odd shadow people, and a Pringles thief with an amusing excuse for pilfering the popular potato chips were among the weird and wondrous stories to cross our desk this past week.
Nessie was back in the news this past week after hundreds of people gathered along the shore of Loch Ness for a massive ‘monster hunt’ that produced some rather intriguing results. Organized by the Loch Ness Centre tourist attraction and the Loch Ness Exploration (LNE) research group, the weekend-long event drew visitors from around the world and featured an array of activities celebrating Scotland’s famed cryptid. Of the many people watching for something unusual during the search, an eleven-year-old girl named Evelyn Murphy proved to be the luckiest as she managed to photograph an odd anomaly that briefly broke the water. Meanwhile, a boat equipped with a hydrophone picked up a peculiar rhythmic sound of unknown origin emanating from somewhere deep within Loch Ness.

This past week featured a pair of peculiar videos featuring mysterious shadow people. First, in the Philippines, a security camera captured footage of a diminutive figure dashing along a balcony outside of a residence. To the homeowner’s astonishment, the shadowy being appeared to sport a long tail, causing many online viewers to theorize that the oddity could have been supernatural in nature. Meanwhile, at a recent Taylor Swift concert in Madrid, a fan in attendance spotted a mysterious shadow figure standing alone in the rafters of the stadium, sparking all manner of speculation as to who or what the eerie interloper could have been.

The weirdest story of the week came by way of England where a sticky-fingered ne’er-do-well wound up making worldwide headlines when he offered up a rather clever excuse for stealing seventeen tubes of Pringles. Following a series of burglaries at various retail shops, including the aforementioned break-in that saw him make off with a slew of the popular potato chips, Adam Spencer’s crime spree came to an end when police finally caught up with him. Upon being questioned about the capers, specifically the pilfered Pringles, the man simply replied with the snack food’s long-running slogan "once you pop, you can’t stop." Despite being delightfully on-brand with his reasoning for stealing the chips, we’re guessing that the Pringles won’t be calling him about an endorsement deal.
