Transfer Talk: Juventus interested in swoop for Sancho

The summer transfer window won’t reopen in Europe for a few more weeks, but there are plenty of moves in the works and gossip swirling around. Transfer Talk brings you all the latest buzz on rumours, comings, goings and, of course, done deals!

TOP STORY: Juve looking at summer move for Sancho

Juventus are interested in a summer swoop for Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho, reports Daily Mail.

The report indicates that Borussia Dortmund are unlikely to match United’s asking price of £40 million, which leaves the door open for Juventus. Sancho spent the second half of last season on loan with Dortmund, following a high-profile falling out with Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag regarding Sancho’s approach to training.

However, whilst Dortmund are understood to be keen on securing a permanent deal for Sancho, the German club are not in the position to meet United’s valuation.

It is reported that the Red Devils are desperate to offload the 24-year-old this summer, with Juventus a potential option. The Italian club have been linked with several notable names, including Aston Villa‘s Douglas Luiz, with Juve looking set for a summer of increased spending.

Alongside Juventus, the report suggests that other clubs in Italy and Germany have shown an interest in Sancho, who looks increasingly set for a move away from Old Trafford now that Ten Hag looks likely to stay put.

United are keen to offload several players this summer to increase their funds for transfer targets of their own.

PAPER GOSSIP

— Aston Villa forward Jhon Durán is on the radar of Chelsea for the summer, with initial approaches having already taken place, reports Fabrizio Romano. The Blues are reportedly keen on attacking reinforcements this summer, with Duran having been on Chelsea’s radar since January. It is reported that Villa value the 20-year-old at £35-40m after scoring eight goals across all competitions last season. Whilst Italian clubs are also keen on Duran, it is reported that the player would prioritise a move to Chelsea.

Celtic are showing interest in Salernitana defender Flavius Daniliuc but will face competition from FC Salzburg, reports Sky Sports Deutschland’s Florian Plettenberg. The 23-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at Salzburg, with the tweet suggesting that the Austrian club are keen to make this a permanent switch. However, it is reported that Celtic also have an interest in the defender, who is under contract with Salernitana until 2026.

— Juventus and Aston Villa are progressing in negotiations regarding a deal for midfielder Douglas Luiz, reports Matteo Moretto. It is reported that a deal could be structured as such, that Samuel Iling-Junior and Weston McKennie will join Villa. The tweet suggests that contractual negotiations regarding all three players have not yet begun, but the deal is advancing. Luiz featured 35 times in the Premier League for Villa last season, notching nine goals and five assists in the process, attracting significant interest across Europe.

AC Milan defender Theo Hernández is keen on a return to Real Madrid or a move to Bayern Munich this summer, reports Sport. The 26-year-old joined Milan from Los Blancos in 2019, however, the report suggests that the France international is keen on parting ways with the Italian outfit. Whilst it is reported that Hernandez is keen on a return to Real Madrid, the Spanish club are not currently entertaining a move with their focus being on Bayern’s Alphonso Davies. The report indicates that should Davies depart Bayern, this could enable the German club to strike a deal for Hernandez later in the summer.

— Real Madrid are not opposed to allowing defender Ferland Mendy to depart the club this summer, suggest Relevo. Despite enduring a strong 2023-24 season, it is reported that Real Madrid’s concerns regarding his injury record could see the Spanish club offload the 29-year-old. The report reveals that the club feel as if Mendy’s best football is behind him, which opens the door to an exit, with clubs in Saudi Arabia monitoring. Los Blancos have been heavily linked with a move for Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies which makes a summer exit for Mendy increasingly likely.
