Transfer Talk: Man United could turn attention to de Ligt

The summer transfer window is set to open across Europe soon and there are plenty of moves in the works and gossip swirling around. Transfer Talk brings you all the latest buzz on rumours, comings, goings and, of course, done deals!

TOP STORY: Man United could look to De Ligt in summer

Manchester United are exploring a move for Bayern Munich centre-back Matthijs de Ligt, reports Sky Sports Deutschland’s Florian Plettenberg.

Internal discussions are reported to have taken place between the Old Trafford hierarchy, who have placed the 24-year-old on their shortlist for this summer.

It is said that they are currently “gathering more information” about De Ligt, and it is expected that a move for him could be possible if they make an offer in the region of €50 million.

De Ligt was a key player for manager Thomas Tuchel last season, making 30 appearances across all competitions for the Bundesliga side, and he could be seen as an alternative to Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite.

While personal terms were recently believed to have been agreed with the 21-year-old, Team Talk reports that the Red Devils are still some distance off reaching an agreement with the Toffees over a transfer fee.

PAPER GOSSIP

– The representatives of Juventus winger Federico Chiesa have been approached by Roma, reports Rudy Galetti. While the 26-year-old’s preference is to remain with the Bianconeri, it is believed that multiple clubs are looking at a potential move for him this summer, with Napoli as well as clubs in Europe also interested. A decision is expected to be made after the European Championship.

– Contract talks between Bayern Munich and left-back Alphonso Davies have stalled, reports Sky Sports Deutschland’s Florian Plettenberg. The 23-year-old is set to enter the final year of his contract, and it is said that the Bundesliga club have accepted that they could lose him as a free transfer next summer. The Canada international has recently been on the radar of Real Madrid.

Internazionale are considering a move for Roma forward Paulo Dybala, reports Calciomercato. The Nerazzurri are said to be keen on acquiring the 30-year-old as a potential partner for striker Lautaro Martínez, but any move could depend on whether Dybala reaches an agreement over a new contract at the Stadio Olimpico.

Newcastle United are interested in AC Milan centre-back Fikayo Tomori, according to Football Insider. It is reported that the Magpies have already contacted the 26-year-old’s representatives, and are aiming to make him their second signing of the summer transfer window after recently landing Lloyd Kelly. Tomori made 35 appearances across all competitions for the Rossoneri last season.

– Manchester United will dismiss all offers for defenders Lisandro Martínez and Diogo Dalot this summer, reports the Mirror. The club’s hierarchy are believed to see them as important to manager Erik ten Hag’s future project, though midfielder Casemiro is expected to leave amid interest from the Saudi Pro League. Dalot, 25, made 36 Premier League appearances last season, while 26-year-old Lisandro missed several games through injury.
