Brighton sign Yankuba Minteh from Newcastle
Brighton & Hove Albion have agreed a five-year deal to sign Gambia winger Yankuba Minteh from Newcastle United, the club announced on Sunday.
The 19-year-old joined the club after a successful season on loan at Feyenoord, the runners-up of the Eredivisie, where he made 37 appearances in all competitions, scoring 10 league goals.
Brighton have agreed on a £30 million ($37m) fee with Newcastle. Eddie Howe’s side wanted to make a major sale by the end of June to avoid the chance of breaking Premier League profit and sustainability regulations.
“Yankuba is a young talent who has attracted a lot of interest and we’re delighted to welcome him to the club,” Brighton technical director David Weir said in a statement.

Minteh joined Danish side Odense BK in 2022 before signing for Newcastle in 2023 and being loaned out to Feyenoord.
He found the net against Celtic in the Champions League and he has made seven international appearances for Gambia, scoring three goals.
