Democrats shine 'Trump-Vance Weird as Hell' on Trump Tower in Chicago as Kamala Harris arrives – The Mirror US

Democrats signaled excitement about the Democratic National Convention Sunday night and even flung a few taunts to the Trump campaign Sunday night, shining “Project 2025 HQ” on Trump Tower in Chicago
Ahead of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago on Sunday night, a number of pictures criticizing Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump and the party's vice presidential contender, Senator JD Vance, were projected onto Trump Tower late at night as Kamala Harris' motorcade filed in.

There were other jokes on the building's outside as Democrats flocked to the city for the four-day convention. One such joke was "Project 2025 HQ," which alluded to a conservative agenda that Trump has consistently distanced himself from for the upcoming Republican president.
There were also taunts in Spanish, one of which said, "Trump-Vance Weird as Hell." Earlier this month, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz—who Vice President Kamala Harris selected as her running mate—called Trump and Vance "creepy" and "weird as hell" at a rally. Other messages, like "Harris, Walz, joy and hope," endorsed the Democratic ticket.
In a statement on the forecasts, the DNC stated, in part, "…all eyes are on Chicago, and tonight, everyone is seeing a preview of the contrast that will take center stage this week throughout the Democratic National Convention." The convention starts on Monday, and Harris is scheduled to accept the party's presidential nomination on Thursday evening.
The presumptive Democratic presidential nominee shut down traffic on Michigan Ave near Chicago Ave, arriving to her windy city hotel which has been fortified by a wall of metal. Both Chicago police and Secret Service agents have established a perimeter, ensuring the VP will make it to her speech at the DNC, which will be held two locations: McCormick Place, which will host formal party business and meetings during the day, and the United Center, which will host speeches and other festivities in the evening.
While Chicago is not located in a battleground state, it is only an hour's drive from Michigan and Wisconsin, two states that are crucial to Democrats' chances of winning the White House in November. Historically, "blue wall" states Wisconsin and Michigan have favored Democrats; however, they voted for former President Donald Trump in the 2016 election, However Biden won them back in 2020.

Prior to Harris announcing Walz as her running mate, Republicans were expected to face competition in nearby Minnesota, even though it is not seen as a battleground state.

Democrats pointed out that this region was vital to Biden's 2020 election success when they announced Chicago would serve as the host city. "The Midwest reflects America," DNC chairman Jaime Harrison said last year. In Chicago, over 4,000 delegates will come together to officially acknowledge Harris as the Democratic nominee and to adopt the party program.
In order to formally nominate presidential and vice presidential candidates, the convention usually includes a roll call vote. However, earlier this month, Harris solidified her position as the front-runner on the presidential ticket when she secured the majority of delegates in a virtual roll call.
