Parent makes chilling attic discovery after five-year-old son's eerie remark – Express

AtticA parent has been left terrified after making a chilling discovery in their attic, following their child’s eerie claim that a “man lives there”.
The now viral X, formerly Twitter, post shows a dark loft that the user’s son believes is inhabited by an unknown individual.
The family rarely uses the spacious attic, and the sight of the open hatch was enough to set off alarm bells for the already “freaked out already” parent.
To make matters worse, the user then revealed their child might have seen someone living in the loft without the family’s knowledge.
Sharing their experience on social media, user LoppyRae wrote: “So, this morning I went into the garage and noticed the attic was wide open.”

So, this morning I went into the garage and noticed the attic was wide open. We don’t use it and it’s a heavy panel, so I was freaked out already but trying to play it cool for my kid.

But tell me why my 5yo stared straight into the darkness and said “a man lives there.”

“The attic in question and tell me why I just noticed the f**king black handprint I’m SCREAMING.”
The tweet included a photo of the open attic and a dark handprint on the side of the ceiling.
Further updates from a list posted by the original tweeter revealed that cameras had been installed and claw marks were found on the panel. They joked: “A buff raccoon maybe? Nothing is stolen.”

The observant neighbour who spotted the activity in their attic received no further updates, but the comments were soon brimming with advice and a lively debate on how to ensure attics are secured.
One user added a “shadow man” might be residing in the loft, humourously struggling with rent and grocery bills. Yet, the tone shifted as more grave accounts poured in, with community members swapping chilling encounters involving unsealed attics.
A perturbed user shared: “This is actually a tactic used by home intruders. They sneak into the attic when people have left their garage doors open and unattended for a while. Then either wait for the family to leave to rob them or intrude into the house at night. Happened in our neighbourhood.”
