'I won big on the lottery but don't want my family to see a penny' – The Mirror

Winning big on the lottery is nothing but a dream for most of us, but for one man – it became a living nightmare after his ‘greedy’ family started demanding payouts straight away
A man has riled is family after coming into a 'life-changing' amount of money.
The 32-year-old claims to have received a 'substantial' sum after winning big on the lotto, but doesn't plan on giving a penny of it away. Taking to Reddit, he says he's always been 'self-reliant' and worked hard to get where he is today.
But, his 'financially irresponsible' family were quick to ask for handouts after finding out about the big win. "They've never been good with money, and they've always relied on others to bail them out of their financial troubles," he said.
"I've helped them out in the past, but it's always been with the understanding that they would try to improve their financial habits.
In a thread created last year, the man alleges his family are now demanding he has 'more than enough to share'. "They've even gone as far as to say that I owe them because they've helped me out in the past (which is not true, I've always been the one helping them)," the post reads.
"I've tried to explain to them that I want to use this money to secure my future and that I can't just give it away, but they're not listening. They're calling me selfish and ungrateful, and it's starting to cause a lot of tension in the family."

Thousands of users flocked to the comments section to share their thoughts, with a clear majority slamming the family for 'guilt-tripping' the man. "NEVER give hand-outs to your family: they will come to expect it, which breeds resentment," one person warned.
Another agreed, commenting: "Refuse to engage with them on this subject. If they bring it up, say NO in your most serious, don't screw with me voice and then stay silent until the subject changes. It's a decision, not a discussion."
A third added: "Block them on everything. Change your number. Go abroad or just up sticks and move. Money really does bring out the worst in people, even your family," while a fourth branded the family 'greedy'.
