A possible shapeshifter filmed in Mexico, a Slovakian lake monster sighting, and a swarm of raccoons that trapped a Washington woman in her home were among the weird and wondrous stories to pop up on our radar this past week.
A pair of intriguing eyewitness accounts of high strangeness piqued our interest this past week, beginning with a case out of Slovakia, where a group of seasoned hikers reported seeing a sizeable mystery creature emerge from a mountain lake. The country’s wildlife experts were at a loss to explain what the weird ‘monster’ might have been since the alpine location is particularly inhospitable to any animal that could be as big as what the witnesses saw. Meanwhile, over in England, a couple claimed that they had a terrifying encounter with a Dogman while walking through a forest notorious for paranormal activity. The canine cryptid, they said, stood around seven feet tall and resembled the classic Hollywood depiction of a werewolf.

One of the more confounding videos we’ve seen in a while crossed our desk this past week by way of Mexico, where a backyard security camera captured footage of a dog that seemingly transformed into a human. Many viewers speculated that the astounding scene showed a legendary shapeshifting entity known as a Nahual in Mesoamerican folklore. Meanwhile, more skeptical observers argued that the fantastic footage was simply a hoax or the result of a camera glitch. Other remarkable videos from the week featured a weirdly shaped UFO seen in Taiwan and a little girl who appeared to have her arm pulled by a ghost.

By far the weirdest story of the week centered around a swarm of raccoons that trapped a Washington state woman in her home. As detailed by police enlisted to help the unfortunate homeowner, the wild incident saw around 100 of the proverbial trash pandas descend upon the property in search of food. Amazingly, the woman explained to cops on the scene that the arrival of the animals was not altogether unexpected as she has been feeding them for over three decades. However, what had been a handful of hungry raccoons ballooned into a population of dozens, leaving her overwhelmed and unable to leave the house.
