Woman finds strange metal rod baked into her Pizza Hut takeaway – Metro.co.uk
NEWS… BUT NOT AS YOU KNOW IT
A woman has been left horrified after finding a strange metal object embedded in a takeaway she ordered from Pizza Hut.
Amber, 24, took to Twitter to share a photo of the bizarre discovery after discovering it baked into the crust of her margherita pizza.
Tagging the fast food chain in her post, Amber wrote: ‘Hey umm @pizzahutuk can you explain this?’
The contraption, which is hooked at both ends, covers nearly the entire edge of one slice of pizza.
Several commentators pointed out the object was likely attached to the oven, and fell into the pizza while it was being cooked.
One poster who ‘worked for them years ago’ said the object was ‘part of the belt from the oven.’
Another former employee said: ‘That’s part of the rotating oven belt. How that ended up inside the pizza is mind-blowing to me. Would definitely complain and take it to the head office if needs be.’
Yet despite the horrific health and safety hazard, Amber reportedly didn’t even receive a refund for the ruined meal.
Responding to a Twitter user who said ‘That’s insane’, Amber said: ‘Isn’t it? They didn’t even offer a refund, just a new pizza. how is that okay in the slightest.’
‘According to the manager they apparently do not have metal in their kitchen?! Hard to believe,’ she added.
A spokesperson from Pizza Hut said: ‘We are aware of this incident, and we are looking into it as a matter of urgency.
‘The health and safety of our customers is our utmost priority, and we want to reassure all our customers that a thorough investigation is taking place.
‘We can confirm this is an isolated incident and we are in touch with the customer and the franchise operator in question.’

Ingrid Beeforth, 40, found the object at The View Fish and Chips hut in Herne Bay in September while out with her 12-year-old son and his friend.
‘They all dug in and were enjoying the chips,’ she said. ‘After a minute or two, Leo said he wanted some ketchup but returned after a minute or two empty-handed as the ketchup was 60p a sachet.
‘Five minutes later, Leo approached me with a chip on his fork and what I perceived to be a razor blade and said “look what was in my chips”.
Staff claimed the item was, in fact, not a razor blade, but a piece of machinery used to slice chips, and offered Ms Beeforth a full refund.
