Woman mortified as 'unhinged' bridesmaid tells her to leave wedding over dress – The Mirror US
Weddings are meant to be the happiest days of people's lives – but they can quickly descend into madness.
This was definitely the case for this woman, who was horrified to be confronted by a bridesmaid. She took to Reddit to describe the "embarrassing" moment an "unhinged" member of the bridal party asked her to leave the ceremony.
Why, you may ask? Apparently, the bridesmaid didn't approve of the "bumble bee yellow" dress she was wearing on the big day.
Elaborating, she said: “So yellow that I did not question if it was appropriate or not to wear to a wedding and neither did my friends nor family. I arrive at the wedding, we have the ceremony, the cocktail hour, the dinner and the reception. I get many compliments on the dress and the bride even comments on how much she loves it several times.”
Sadly, the positive reaction to the dress shifted when the lighting changed at the venue. When they "dimmed the lights and turned one some blacklights", the frock apparently "appeared more white than yellow".
The woman continued: “A member of the wedding party approached me while the blacklights were on and stated that I needed to leave because my dress was ‘white’ and ‘inappropriate’. I stated that the dress was yellow but the blacklights were making it appear white. The member of the wedding party stated that if I didn't leave she would ‘make me’.”
Instead of getting pushed out of the event by the "heated" argument, the woman decided to stand her ground. Despite the bridesmaid approaching the groom the intervene, he apparently “shrugged and continued to dance”.
Others didn't take the dispute as lightly though – so the wedding guest took to Reddit to ask if she was in the wrong. Thankfully, most people were on her side.
One commenter said: "Who checks their attire under black lights to see if it ‘passes’? Ridiculousness. I understand if it appeared white under normal lights but c'mon, this was an unusual situation at the end of the reception. You are fine and whomever approached you was completely and utterly out of line. Some people have nothing better to do than look for problems that don't exist.”
Another said: “Sounds like she was a dangerous combination of unobservant, stupid and drunk. The friend who approached OP [original poster] the next day is just hooked on drama.”
And another commented: “If the bride didn’t have a problem, then no one needs to chime in with their opinion. The groom shrugged and moved on. This guest was anal.”
