Bizarre Halloween laws in US: Rehoboth Beach never allows trick-or-treating on Sunday – Asbury Park Press
There are plenty of unwritten rules for Halloween.
Don’t give out pennies. No candy corn. And one I never liked, but followed, no eating candy until you get home.
But, did you know there are some written rules? NBC News broke down some crazy Halloween laws from across the country:
Don’t dress up as a religious figure. Alabama doesn’t allow people to pretend to be “a minister of any religion, a nun, priest, rabbi or other member of the clergy.” The punishment could be a fine or a year in jail.
This is a law you can break for the next few years, but beginning in 2027, California will ban foods with certain additives and dyes, which are used in candy corn and Hot Tamales.
Also in California, both Hollywood and Beverly Hills prohibit the use and sale of silly string around the holiday.
Not the entire state, but Rehoboth Beach only allows trick-or-treating from 6 to 8 p.m. and never allows it on Sundays.
Massachusetts doesn’t allow the sale of candy with more than 1% alcohol.
Adults who want to wear a Halloween mask can do so. They just need permission from the police chief or the mayor.
