UFO Fever Hits CT: Skywatchers Report Weird Lights, Orbs & Cigars – Patch
CONNECTICUT — For UFO fans, it’s a glorious time to be alive.
Time once wasted watching old “X-Files” reruns on Hulu is now richly spent watching live broadcasts of Congressional hearings addressing unidentified anomalous phenomena on C-SPAN.
Whether it can be chalked up to UFOs’ newfound respectability or not, the frequency of posts Connecticut residents make in the database of the National UFO Reporting Center has clearly increased.
As to be expected, 2024’s increase in rocket launches has fueled a spike in UFO sightings, but NUFORC tracks those and annotates the records accordingly. Four of the sightings reported by Connecticut residents in the past year have been traced back to man-made spacecraft.
The data also makes clear that the continued growth of cellphone cameras/video recorders has made the stealthy space alien’s lot more difficult: more and more of the sightings feature photos and video.
Even the reporting meta has become more entertaining. A new gallery of UFO witnesses’ artwork provides an outlet for those faster with the sketch pad or illustration program than they are with a camera. (Lots of triangles, which must be the Ford 150s of intergalactic highways…)

It’s also quite possible, based on the latest round of witness reports, that the space aliens are just as leery of us as we are of them. Why else do they travel in 2’s so often?
On June 24, at 12:50 p.m., two cigar-shaped UFOs were spotted over East Windsor, maintaining a formation while following an airplane, before they shot ahead of the man-made craft and just “disappeared,” according to the report.
Two more, color-shifting UFOs were captured on video in the northeastern sky over Berlin on Aug. 13 at 3:45 a.m.
The UFOs continued to travel in pairs in October when a skywatcher reported “two orbs of light at a fixed distance apart, too far to be a plane’s wing tips – descending/gliding away…” over Norwalk
On Sept. 27 at 7:10 p.m. in North Haven, a “super bright white star” caught the attention of a motorist driving westbound on Route 15 toward Hamden: “It was the only star visible in the sky” according to the eyewitness report.
One lucky skywatcher caught two very different-looking phenomena a few days apart in Enfield.
On Aug. 29, “an object with 5-6 white lights in a line with one red light on the end” appeared, “twinkling like crazy,” while the witness was in their car.
One week later, two more mysterious lights larger, brighter, near and moving closer — looking “like two headlights,” attached to nothing, appeared and passed over the witness’s car just before 8:30 p.m.
Milford, ever a hot spot for UFO sightings, went full Klaatu with a report of “an object [going] by very fast then [coming] to a complete stop. It was changing shapes and looked like it had some kind of energy field around it,” on May 29, at 12:33 p.m.

But it’s Waterbury that pushes the space alien needle furthest, this time around.
On May 16, a resident of Oronoke Road filed a report of “ongoing sightings… over the past several months” of red, white, orange, and blue “unidentified orbs and associated phenomena,” observed frequently, mostly in the evening hours.
On one occasion, the “dozen sentient orange orbs moving slowly” through the trees towards the witness seemed to “be aware of my presence, reacting when I attempt to film them. On multiple occasions, the orbs have approached me or changed their behavior as if responding to being observed.”
In the online report, the orbs sometimes change size and shape, stretching into lines, and on one occasion, an orb appeared to emit an apparition-like figure. The behavior of the orbs “suggest intelligent or purposeful movement” the eyewitness posted.
“They have shape-shifted, moved at rapid speeds, and in one instance, shot out an apparition-like form, which I captured in a still image from video footage… These orbs blink and flash in a way that doesn’t resemble any known light sources, and they have flown out of the woods and toward me at times, further suggesting interaction…”

It’s then when the UFO database report takes on the quality of an Edgar Allen Poe fever dream diary:
“There is no one I can go to who can give me a sense of protection or relief. I cannot contact the police, as this is not an issue they can address, and I have no means to defend myself or deal with the phenomena directly. This situation leaves me feeling isolated and without support.
“The ongoing nature of these events has taken a toll on me, as I feel there is nowhere to turn for help. I believe that sharing my experience with your organization might be my best option for finding answers and understanding what I am dealing with. I hope that through your investigation, I can find some relief from the helplessness I feel in this situation…”
