Weird and wonderful Worcester: Bizarre headlines from 2024 – Worcester News

NEWSPAPERS should be filled with a mixture of dark and light – the important dispatches from court and councils alongside the stories celebrating achievements.
But among the pages of the Worcester News there are often tales of the bizarre, unusual or downright weird.
Here are a selection of those tales from 2024.

October saw flooding in Worcester – not that unusual. But what did cause a stir was a woman who was dressed as a swan, sat atop an inflatable swan, paddling around Worcester Racecourse.

The 28-year-old was left “absolutely fuming” watched in delight as the bids increased and he dreamt of investing the money in his small business or going on holiday.

But that happened in February when a film crew closed off a layby to film Burger Van Man.
It may not have been a glitzy location but it cause a lot of excitement.

The Coronation Street star Alex Bain was seen in the VIP area of Sin nightclub on New Street.
He was captured in the nightclub’s story receiving a bucket of alcohol, which had a sparkler shooting from it.

However, it turns out they were a breeding pair and had been spotted in Worcester over the past few years.

Well, Leah Shutkever has made a success of  it and visited Toast in Flyford Flavell to take on the massive Mega Toast challenge.
She filmed her attempt for YouTube as she took on a plate piled up with four sausages, 12 rashers of smoked streaky bacon, 4 black pudding, a bowl of confit garlic mushrooms, 4 oven-roasted tomatoes, a bowl of baked beans, stack of white toast, extra-large tater tots and eggs of choice – with Shutkever choosing fried.

This one was seen stalking around the countryside while others have been reported in Gorse Hill, Worcester.
