American in UK finds questions she gets from US friends since moving 'hilarious' – The Mirror US

An American woman residing in the UK has shared some of the 'dumb' questions she's been asked by her friends back in the States.
Lisa Dollan, originally from America but now living in Yorkshire, UK, has been fielding queries about British life that have left her amused. She took to TikTok, where she goes by Yorkshire Peach, to share the types of questions she's been asked, which often reflect American stereotypes about Brits.
In a video filmed in her car, Lisa revealed that one friend asked her 'how are things in London?. She had to explain that she wouldn't know as she lives in "Leeds, up north". When asked 'how far is that from London?' she simply replied 'quite far'.
Another common question is 'oh my God, have you met the Queen?' To which the American expat responded: "No, I have not met her or any of the Royal Family for that matter."
She also debunked the myth that all Brits 'talk really posh', explaining to her friends that while some people in the UK do 'speak posh', "oddly there are about 623 different accents and that's just in the north". Lisa claimed that Americans "still think it's just the one accent".
One particularly odd question she's been asked is 'is it true that people over there don't wear deodorant?'. She burst into laughter when faced with the ridiculous inquiry, exclaiming: "What? Where have they even got this nonsense?".
She also tackled another stereotype asking whether Brits really indulge in tea and delightful cakes every afternoon at 3, to which she responded decisively: "Afternoon tea is a thing but we're not all sat here having afternoon tea at 3." Addressing the cliche about British lifestyles resembling the movie 'Notting Hill,' Lisa was quick to debunk it with a touch of humor: "No Tina, it looks nothing like that and I haven't ran into Hugh Grant either."
When confronted with questions about British dental health, particularly the myth that Brits have 'bad teeth,' Lisa voiced her confusion and suggested that while Americans might wear braces more often, she didn't see why: "Now, I do think people in America wear braces more often, I don't really know why. I think some people think 'oh it's because the Americans have dental insurance' and that is still very expensive."
She recounted her own experience, noting the high cost of braces which she felt were unnecessary: "Braces are very expensive, mine cost about five grand, I didn't even need them. Again, it's just a money making machine over there but as far as dental hygiene, the dental hygiene is just as good here."
Frustrated by the absurdity of the misconceptions, she concluded her TikTok video with a bemused "bananas, honestly," unable to fathom what her American friends think of the UK. Her video attracted wide attention, bringing in 404,000 views, racking up 22,000 likes, and generating a buzz with over 700 comments.
Racking up the likes, the top comment on her viral moment was a proud, "You've even picked up UK sarcasm, I love it ! ", snagging 1761 thumbs-ups. Another user chimed in: "You are officially British. Your humour is spot on."
While a third fan weighed in: "I feel like you're more Yorkshire than American now, love the fact you're another Leeds lass." And a fourth individual joined in the chorus of chuckles with: "It's even better when an American does this, shows just how ignorant far too many Americans are and how easily educated they can be when they visit and live here like you do."
