Squid Game fans spot 'crazy' clue in Netflix series – and it changes how you view 001 – Daily Express US
In the interim, fans have been dissecting the series for hidden clues they might have overlooked initially. This prompted Instagram’s Movie Detective, aka @its_ivanmars, to reveal a ‘crazy’ detail he noticed while watching the new season.
He shared: “I was watching Squid Game and realised something crazy. We know the Frontman is the stepbrother of the police officer, and in season two, we get to see their mother. But who is the father? Check this out.
“In season one, Gi-hun reveals he can’t drink milk, and the old player (001) mentions that his son can’t either. This makes sense when you watch this scene from season two…” He continued, pointing to a moment where the undercover Frontman, number 001, passes his milk to pregnant player 222, explaining he “can’t drink milk.”
“I realise the Frontman is actually the son of the game’s creator. That’s why, among all past winners, he’s the one chosen to become the Frontman and assist the old man during his death. Mind-blowing.”

Fans reacted with surprise to the revelation, with one Instagram user commenting: “The fact the main character letting himself get fooled by both 001 in each season.”
Another noted: “Plus, the frontman ends the night fight/killing in season 1 when player 1 yells to stop.”
A third user commented: “The first thing I thought about when we watched first season yesterday the second time.”
Another chimed in with: “His name was Young Il, as in youngling of Il Nam. He was also 001, which is the same number as his father. It’s not really cryptic. It was pretty clear. I think the saddest thing is that the main character didn’t see through it when ALL the signs were there AND when he knew his name before anyone else.”
A different user shared their perspective, saying, “001 and 456 are brothers, and the creator is their father. That’s why he wanted to see both of them one last time before he died. However, the frontman has similar beliefs, such as humanity is a hoax.”
They continued: “Whereas Gi-hun (456) still sees the good in others, and when presented with the best choice, people will choose to do the right thing. The whole goal is to try and break down 456’s high spirit. Also 001 is working with the captain of the fishing boat. That’s why he has such a high income as a fisherman. The organs also travel along his route.”
