Teen missing for days found hiding in supermarket in a 'fort' made of toilet rolls – Daily Star

A runaway teen claimed he set up camp in a fort constructed of bog roll inside a Walmart’s after running away from his grandparents’ home.
Christopher Dunham, 16, from Oklahoma, US, was reported missing by his elderly relatives on Sunday (Sunday 2). The mystery took a turn Tuesday night after he was seen attempting to sneak back into the family home after officers searched the property. After being reunited with his family, Dunham was taken to the police station where he recounted his bizarre disappearance story.
The lad told authorities he’d built a fort out of toilet paper inside a Walmart store and slept in a dog bed, local outlet KSNF reports. Police chief Mark Morris said Dunham’s grandparents made searching for the missing teenager difficult, citing “extended family issues” and refusing to have the kid’s photograph released.
“They weren't very cooperative,” Morris told the outlet. “This is one of the most bizarre cases in my law enforcement career.”
The officer said the teenager displayed minor injuries after they met with Dunham on Wednesday. “It is unknown if this was related to this runaway or a previous incident.”
The incident comes over a year after a neighbour who lives near the grandparents “got into a heated argument” with the couple over his wellbeing. The anonymous neighbour said the teenager was seen mowing the lawn during a summer’s day when the temperature reached over 46C.
According to the neighbour, the boy’s grandparents “became combative” after the worried onlooker expressed their concern.
Another neighbour came forward while the police were searching the property earlier this week, claiming the grandparents had locked the teenager out of the house one night when it was “pouring rain outside and cold.”
They said: “He was outside crying and begging to be let back inside. We heard his crying and her yelling at him to shut up.”
