A woman claiming to be missing Madeleine McCann has been arrested after landing in the UK.
Police swooped on Julia Wandelt at Bristol Airport, Mail Online reports. Authorities held her on suspicion of stalking and harassing Madeleine's parents Kate and Gerry McCann. The 23-year-old had been due to meet pals in Cardiff after flying in from Wroclaw, Poland, but instead was surrounded by officers in front of shocked passengers.
Wandelt's mate, thought to be in her 60s, was also arrested and taken away in handcuffs. Wandelt became an internet sensation in February 2023 when she posted to Instagram under the account name "@IAmMadeleineMcCann".
Julia recently sparked a frenzy with her latest claim that fresh DNA results are a "perfect match" to samples from the hotel room where the little British girl disappeared.
She was adamant that genetic tests "strongly supports" the possibility that Gerry McCann could be her real dad. She revealed a "source" had compared "hair and saliva" from the Portuguese resort crime scene in Praia da Luz, with her own DNA.
Despite their decision to decline the testing, Julia took to social media to share that there was a compelling 69.23% correspondence between her DNA and the crime scene evidence.
An anonymous leading expert has been quoted saying: "The genetic evidence strongly supports that (Gerry) McCann could be Julia Wandelt's biological father, as the data aligns perfectly with a parent-child relationship.
"If this analysis is accurate and properly derived from their DNA samples, the relationship between McCann and Julia Wandelt is biologically consistent with that of a father and daughter."
The real Maddie was three when she vanished without trace in 2007 while on holiday with her parents Gerry and Kate, who were soon made prime suspects by Portuguese police.
Her disappearance has stumped sleuths for almost two decades and every potential lead has hit a brick wall.
