In January, many of us consider what habits to break and what goals to set in the new year. Typically, these include things to make us healthier like stopping smoking, eating better or getting fit.
If you want to try something new this year but are struggling for inspiration, here are some celebrity ideas for New Year’s resolutions. But be warned, some are more than a little bit weird.
Howie Mandel, comedian and America’s Got Talent host decided not to pledge to lose weight but to ‘gain five pounds this year’ as he felt this was ‘more achievable’.
Roxanne Kaiser, star of the Netflix series The Ultimatum decided that in 2025 she wants to ‘apologise less’.
Megan Markle, The Duchess of Sussex, in her ‘The Tig’ blog in 2016, said she resolved to ‘make more room for magic’. Bearing in mind that two years later she married a Prince and went to live in a palace, maybe that particular resolution isn’t such a bad idea!
Film star Paul Newman told Entertainment Weekly back in 1998, ‘I will jump in the river that runs through our backyard every morning’. Why? ‘Just to get my heart started’. Surely taking a run or having a coffee would be more sensible options?
In a December 2006 HuffPost article, author and filmmaker Nora Ephron stated that along with plans to visit Madrid, she pledged to ‘eat more waffles’. Finally, two celebrity resolutions that most of us would be happy to keep.
