The world's 10 most sexually active cities of 2025 have been revealed – and one British city has made the list.
A recent study compiled by Emisil identified the cities with the highest sex drive, comparing them across key behavioural, cultural, and interest-based metrics. Factors such as average partners and sexual encounters, Google searches, and the number of sex shops and adult events were all considered in calculating the composite score. The cities were then ranked from highest to lowest based on these weighted figures.
Los Angeles was crowned the city with the highest sex drive globally, boasting a perfect score of 100.
The city was found to host the largest number of adult-themed events, with 162, and its residents apparently search for sex positions online over 4.4 million times each month.
Sao Paulo, Brazil, came in 2nd on the list, scoring 94.4. Its residents have the highest number of sexual encounters per year, averaging 145 São Paulo also has 119 sex shops, the largest number in the ranking.
Athens, Greece snagged 3rd place, with a score of 88.9. Athenians have 138 sexual encounters a year, closely following Sao Paulo, but boast more lifetime sexual partners at 11. However, sex shops and adult-themed events are harder to come by in Athens, with only seven sex shops listed on Google Maps.
Auckland, New Zealand, has been ranked 4th with a score of 83.3. Aucklanders have the most lifetime sex partners on average, with 13 people. In terms of annual statistics, people in Auckland have as much sex as those in Los Angeles, with 114 yearly encounters.
Montreal, Canada, is in 5th place in the ranking of cities with the highest sex drive globally, scoring 77.8. Montreal residents frequently seek sex advice online, with over 454K searches each month. The city also hosts a fair number of sex-themed events, with 34 and 28 sex shops listed online.
Rome, Italy, is in 6th place, earning a score of 72.2. Romans closely follow Auckland with 12 lifetime sex partners, but sexual encounters are slightly less frequent here, with 108 contacts per year.
And finally our very own London comes in at seventh place, with a score of 66.7. Londoners are said to search for sex pose advice almost twice as often as those in Montreal, with 863K searches. They also maintain active sexual lives, with 118 yearly encounters, more than in Italy, Montreal, or Auckland.
And finishing up the top ten are Mexico City, Mexico, Zurich, Switzerland, and Stockholm, Sweden, in 8th, 9th and 10th place respectively.
Agata Pajor, the Industry Specialist at Emisil, commented on the study: “Sexual expression has evolved toward greater openness, with urban centers worldwide becoming hubs for diverse intimate experiences and communities.
"Educational resources like workshops, specialized retailers, and community events are playing crucial roles in dismantling taboos around sexuality and providing accurate information.
"This educational infrastructure promotes healthier relationships and sexual wellbeing by emphasizing communication, mutual respect, and personal boundaries.”
